Are you a tenant of a Mason Properties apartment or town home? If so, a free ride to class is coming to you.

Later this week, Mason Properties housing management will begin running a shuttle bus for all of its residents.

“Running this bus is just good business,” said Jim Mason, owner of Mason Properties. He added, “The more service you give, the more you get back in return.”

Tenants can ride the bus for free with proof of residency, Mason said. Shuttle passes are available at the Mason Properties’ main office, 120 N. Annie Glidden Road.

Mason assures tenants their rent rates will not increase to cover shuttle costs.

Though the service is in its infancy, Mason Properties has big plans for its shuttle.

When the route is more established, Mason Properties plans to run a bus for its residents to Kishwaukee College. The bus will begin running at noon and will have students back later in the afternoon, Mason said.

Mason said he anticipates heavy use of the new service once it’s off the ground.

Once the shuttle is in operation, the Huskie Bus may see fewer Mason Properties riders.

“As long as everybody gets a ride where to they need to go, I don’t care,” said Larry Pruitt, a Huskie Bus driver.
