Finding the perfect taco place is no easy task. In DeKalb alone there are over five different restaurants to choose from with the selection ranging from fast food to dine-in. Al Dorado, 1180 W. Lincoln Highway, is one place that stands out among other taco places.

With a friendly wait staff and a wide variety of menu selections, Al Dorado is an exceptional place to eat. As soon as the “Open” sign lights up, the staff is ready to serve their customers with a smile, whether the customers choose to dine in or go use the drive through.

If choosing to dine in, the wait staff greets each customer as soon as the door is opened and immediately makes the customer feel as if they are walking into a home of a good friend. Quickly taking the customer’s drink order and waiting to answer any questions about the menu options the customer may have, the staff shows it values its guests.

As soon as the customer places an order, the meal never takes long to receive. Customers never wait longer than five minutes at the drive through, and dine-in guests never wait more than about 10 minutes to receive their food.

On top of the speedy service, the food itself speaks wonders. Serving a selection ranging from tacos, tortas, burritos, quesadillas and various other dinner options, the food is a taco lover’s dream come true.

“People mainly come for the tacos and burritos,” said Alma Camacho, Al Dorado waitress and cashier. “The food tastes so good.”

Anyone who takes a bite of an Al Dorado taco cannot deny that the food is a little slice of heaven. The portion sizes are large and the food is not drenched in grease. The meat selection includes beef, chicken and pork for any taco, burrito or quesadilla selection. The meals come with rice, beans, guacamole and a salad.

As far as the prices go, Al Dorado is perfect for the family or college student budget. The dinner meal price is less than $10, and one taco costs $1.69.

Al Dorado Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner options and is busiest on Thursdays and Fridays. Owner Maria de Los Angeles has created a quaint Mexican restaurant with simple inside décor and welcoming Mexican music that plays as soon as the customers walk in.

For those unable to get out and experience the great food at Al Dorado, they also deliver.
