Police are searching for a missing Aurora man and former NIU student last seen March 21 in DeKalb.

Pilar Hernandez, 22, was last seen by his roommates at his apartment at University Heights, 1110 Varsity Blvd. He has not been seen or heard from since and gave no indication where he was going, said DeKalb Police Lt. Gary Spangler. Foul play is not suspected.

Before leaving March 21, Hernandez left a note that said he would be back Saturday or Sunday. Hernandez took most of his belongings from his apartment when he left and has not contacted his family in over two weeks.

“We have no indication that anything bad happened to him,” Spangler said. “The main fact is he took some of his belongings, and it appears he did that with the intent to leave for somewhere.”

Hernandez’s roommates told investigators he has been acting different and more closed off and distant, Spangler said. Police don’t believe Hernandez is in the DeKalb area and have not seen any activity on his financial accounts or cell phone, Spangler said.

Hernandez is 6-foot 2-inches-tall, about 270 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He may be driving an aqua blue Toyota Corolla, license plate number 5028772.

Question of the Day
Did you attend the NIU football game vs. Eastern Michigan University Thursday night?
Yes. Of course.
No, I couldn't make it.
I wish.
I don't even know what a football looks like.
