Mellodie Howard-Powell

Education: Master’s degree in public administration and master’s degree in business from DeVry, bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from University of Illinois in Springfield

Experience: Parent of children in the district, background in finance and was a probation officer for two years.

What will you bring to the school board?: I want to improve the quality of education for our students in three ways: one is to have more resources in the classroom; two, to facilitate communication of the board with the parents and the students; and three, to build a sense of community so every student reaches their full potential.
