Deadline to change pass/fail courses to regular grading scale
By JOHN RANALLO

Today is the last day to convert a class with a pass/fail grading option to a regular grading scale.

Students wishing to make the conversion can do so at the Office of Registration and Records, Williston Hall 220.

Although few students pursue classes using the pass/fail option, NIU has guidelines available in the undergraduate catalog.

The deadline for students to change regular grading to the pass/fail option was Sept. 14.

The pass/fail option has its advantages. As stated in the undergraduate catalog, the pass/fail option is to “encourage students to explore areas of academic work which they might not otherwise undertake.”

Furthermore, the pass/fail option does not affect your grade point average as long as you receive a “D” or better.

Teachers also are not informed of which students are taking classes as pass/fail.
