An inmate of the DeKalb County Jail was pronounced dead after Correction Deputies found her unconscious Friday.

Brandi L. Brantley, 19, of DeKalb, was unresponsive and found under a blanket with a telephone cord wrapped around her neck at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Friday.

According to a press release “officers immediately began first aid and rescue procedures.” She was then taken to Kishwaukee Community Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The release said the “preliminary investigation indicates that the person took her own life.” An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
