Police investigate domestic stabbing
By ALAN EDRINN & JOHN PUTERBAUGH

Police are investigating a domestic stabbing incident that occurred Thursday afternoon at 847 Russell Road.

At around 3 p.m., police received a 911 call for a stabbing that was found to occur inside an apartment at 847 Russell Road.

DeKalb police chief Bill Feithen said a man was cut once in the upper back with a steak knife. Police responded to the call at 916 Greenbrier Road, where the victim apparently walked after the incident occurred.

“We looked out the window and this guy had blood all over his back,” said Kylie Baker, a Kishwaukee Community College student who lives on Greenbrier Road.

Baker was at her apartment when a woman who was with the victim yelled at her to call 911.

The victim was taken to Kishwaukee Community Hospital and is being examined, but the injuries are not believed to be serious, Feithen said.

Police arrested a suspect, Lisa E. Fields, 20 of DeKalb, and charged her with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, which is a Class 3 felony. Any additional charges will come as additional information develops, Feithen said.

The police are in possession of the weapon.

Thursday’s incident was just another of what Baker feels to be an increasingly common occurrence in the area.

These crimes just keep happening, Baker said, adding that she’s trying to move away from Greek Row.
