An NIU student was robbed at gunpoint in his or her room at Neptune East Monday afternoon.

According to the University Police blotter, the student reported it at 11:44 p.m., several hours after the robbery. Lt. Todd Henert said the offender was an acquaintance of the victim.

Henert described the weapon as a “black, steel pistol” and that the investigation was progressing.
“We have identified the offender and are continuing our investigation,” Henert said. He did not elaborate on what was stolen.

Henert advised that in these situations, it is better to give up whatever the robber wants.
“Your life is worth much more than whatever possessions the robber was trying to obtain,” Henert said.
