A familiar face is taking on a different role. Ron Matekaitis, DeKalb County State’s Attorney, was named an associate judge in the 16th Circuit late Tuesday, according to the news release.

Matekaitis will take over starting May 4.

He recently won a third term as a state’s attorney this past November, earning 61.91 percent of the local vote.

Matekaitis graduated from NIU and earned a graduate degree from the College of Law. He has served as state’s attorney since 2000.
