Mick Soli was the first Division-I All-American for NIU in men’s golf.

He was the No. 1 man on the 1976 team, which was coached by Hall of Famer Jack Pheanis, won the MAC Championship and earned an NCAA berth. The 1976 team is also enshrined in the NIU Hall of Fame.

In 1976, he set the MAC 72-hole record with a score of 282 and won the team MVP award three times along with being the team captain in 1976.

Soli went on to play in the PGA and was named one of the Top 50 Teachers in the United States by Golf Range Magazine in 2004. He earned his PGA card in 1976 at Pinehurst in North Carolina.
