No. 46: Ryan Diem

Ryan Diem was a four-year letterman and two-time captain while with the Huskies from 1997 to 2000.

He started his final 35 games at offensive tackle and did not allow a quarterback sack in his final two seasons. As a senior, Diem recorded 94 key blocks, including 25 knockdowns on an offense that ranked 12th in the nation in rushing (228.1 ypg.) and scoring (37.2 ppg.). He played a major role on offense, as it set NIU’s single-season record for total yards (4,706), points (409), touchdowns (51) and first downs (255).

Diem was All-MAC first-team and CoSIDA Academic All-American his senior year and was named All-MAC first-team and GTE/COSIDA Academic All-District V selection while also making the All-MAC Academic Team.

Diem was drafted in the fourth round of the 2001 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts and won a Super Bowl ring with the Colts in Super Bowl XLI, defeating the Chicago Bears.
