One person was arrested in connection with the armed robbery that occurred in Neptune East on April 6.

University Police arrested Edward E. Robinson, 27, of Chicago, after an officer saw him walking down Lucinda Avenue toward Russell Road. Robinson matched the suspect’s description, said Lt. Todd Henert of the University Police.

Robinson allegedly attempted to flee the scene but was caught and placed under arrest.
Henert said the offender used a “black steel pistol,” according to an April 9 article. Robinson was unarmed when he was arrested.

“Attempts have been made, but we have not located a firearm in this case,” Henert said.
The arrest, which occurred on April 13, was not listed in the UP blotter. It was only when the Northern Star asked about the case that it became known an arrest was made.

“The officer did not update the offense module which is why it wasn’t updated,” Henert said, adding that he will speak to the particular officers in regards to this. Henert said he was not aware of other occurrences like this.

The robbery occurred in the residence of a student with whom the offender was acquainted. Henert did not elaborate on what was stolen but only that the items have not been recovered.

Robinson was booked at the NIU Police Department where he was later transported to the DeKalb County Jail.
