No.26: Jean Pankonin

Jean Pankonin is believed to have played in more Huskies sports than anyone else in history, male or female. She was a member of the badminton, basketball, field hockey, softball, tennis and volleyball teams from 1957 to 1961. On the hardwood, she averaged 23.5 points a game as a senior and 16.5 in her career. She served as vice president and treasurer of the Women’s Recreation Association, which was started by NIU Hall of Famer Mary Bell and offered extramural competition for females prior to inclusion into state AIAW in the 1970s and NCAA Division I in 1982-83.
