The Re:New DeKalb construction project in downtown DeKalb is expected to be completed in November.

The alley entrance on South Second Street will be the only Re:New DeKalb related road closure when the NIU residence halls open on August 20, according to the Re:New DeKalb construction blog. The alley entrance on South Third Street will be open until August 24 while work is in progress on the South Second Street alley entrance, according to the blog.

During construction on the sidewalks, shoppers can use signs placed around downtown to find stores back entrances, according to the blog.

Some parking spaces in downtown DeKalb will be obstructed at times and possible spot closures could occur during crosswalk work throughout September, according to the Re:New DeKalb we bsite. Additionally, repairs on a storm sewer on the corner of Second Street and Locust Street will require closing a single lane at times, according to the web site.

The remaining odds and ends including sidewalk and landscape work should be completed in October, according to the site.

Over the summer repairs on the Locust Street water main, repairs on the Third Street sanitary line, repairs on the curb and gutter on Third Street and various construction projects on East Lincoln Highway were completed.
