After remaining closed for almost two years, Campus Cinemas has reopened their doors to movie-goers.
The theater, located at 1015 Blackhawk Road, reopened on July 10, after co-owner Rick Occhipinti returned from taking over his son’s business.
While closed, Campus Cinemas underwent several changes, with more on the way. Occhipinti said during those months, they split two theaters to allow more screenings of shows and more room for customers. They are planning to split more theaters, as well as make other renovations which should be completed by next year.
Since being open, Campus Cinemas has received some customers, however Occhipinti says they are “hoping to get more people in so we can keep [prices low].”
Residents that have visited the theater have taken note of the cheap prices.
“Three dollars for a movie? You just can’t beat that,” said senior technology major Mike Hall.
Sycamore resident Kasey Wigton agrees. “I come here for the prices. Where I’d usually spend close to 20 bucks getting a ticket and snacks, I come here and spend less than half that amount.” Wigton said.
Occhipinti invites everyone in the area to come in and enjoy their facilities, as well as take advantage of their pricing.
“Come on in, you can’t miss with these prices,” said Occhipinti.
