'Anthem' of the day
By TONY MARTIN

The Gaslight Anthem – “We’re Getting A Divorce, You Keep the Diner”
Some songs that are too lyrically vague make me mad. I can’t seem to figure out what some bands are trying to express, which makes me feel like I’m missing something. This song would be one of those, except for the sample in the beginning which simply states, “It’s zombie time.” This kicks into the best track on The Gaslight Anthem’s phenomenal album, “Sink or Swim.” This song gets bonus awesome points for being about zombies.
This band is like the best parts of Jawbreaker mixed in with Alkaline Trio, if the latter wasn’t so obsessed with making bad death-related puns in all of its songs. The riffs are good and so are the lyrics once they’re put into context.
This is one that I find myself humming to at work.
