Veterans can offer support in times of crisis

Aug. 13
At 1:20 p.m., an official at the Founders Memorial Library reported that someone had painted on a wall in a stairwell. As of Thursday, case is closed pending new leads.
Aug. 27
At 2:20 p.m., someone reported being harassed by telephone to the NIU Police Department. Case is pending.
At 10:18 p.m., University Police on patrol in Lincoln Hall smelled alcohol coming from one of the rooms. After knocking and allowed voluntary entry, the officer asked the occupants if they had consumed any alcohol. One person admitted to drinking and disposed of the remaining liquor. He was referred to Judicial Affairs for unlawful consumption and possession of alcohol by a minor.

At 2:50 a.m., a female student reported that a male student was following her around and making her uncomfortable in Lincoln Hall. Case is pending.
At 10:57 p.m., University Police encountered an underaged student with alcohol in Lincoln Hall and referred him to Judicial Affairs.
Aug. 29
At 12:20 a.m., University Police on a traffic stop encountered an intoxicated passenger. After learning the passenger was underage, officers arrested Rickey A. Williams-Layfield, 19, of DeKalb for illegal consumption by a minor. Officers booked Williams-Layfield at the NIU Police Department, where he posted bond and was released.
At 2:09 a.m., University Police on patrol outside the party at the Recreational Center encountered an intoxicated, underage female student. The student was transferred to Kishwaukee Community Hospital by ambulance. The student was also referred to Judicial Affairs for unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor.
At 4:20 a.m., University Police located and identified an individual in Grant South who had a warrant for failing to appear in court. Officers arrested Joseph R. Gallucci, 20, of Naperville. Officers found Gallucci was in possession of a clear plastic bag containing under 2.5 grams of cannabis, and was also charged for unlawful possession of cannabis. Officers booked Gallucci at the NIU Police Department, where he was later transported to the DeKalb County Jail.
At 11:11 a.m., a victim reported that someone broke into his vehicle parked in Lot W and took items from it. Case is pending.
At 11:01 p.m., University Police responded to a fight outside Lincoln Hall involving 15 people. An officer witnessed a male individual kicking another male who was already on the ground. Officers arrested Jerry L. Holmes, 19, of Chicago, and Paul P. Baldwin, 19 of Chicago, for battery and and resisting a peace officer. Officers booked Holmes and Baldwin at the NIU Police Department, where they each posted bond and were released. The other individuals were referred to Judicial Affairs for brawling.
