An NIU student was robbed Tuesday morning in the 1100 block of Blackhawk Road.

At about 3:30 a.m., the student was walking alone when he was approached by three men. One of the suspects knocked the victim down. The suspects took property from the victim before leaving the area on foot, according to a DeKalb Police Department press release. No weapons were reported.

One of the suspects is described as a black male, 5 feet 10 inches tall, medium build and between 20 and 25 years old.

The victim received minor injuries and did not require medical attention.

Lt. Gary Spangler of the DeKalb Police Department said this robbery may be connected to previous robberies in the area.

“We can’t overlook the fact they could be connected. In a normal investigation, we look at the similarities,” Spangler said. “When we solve one, we’re looking at them all.”
