Ex-hurler hopes to join rotation in the political arena

Curt Schilling has done a lot of good for the state of Massachusetts. But that was as a member of the Boston Red Sox.

Now, the former ace is considering a move into politics. His entry point: the vacant senate seat of Ted Kennedy.

“I do have some interest in the possibility,” Schilling said to WCVB, Boston’s ABC affiliate. “That being said, to get to there from where I am today, many, many things would have to align themselves for that to truly happen.”

I’d like to tell Curt to not even try, but sadly Americans have a history of voting in celebrities. Ronald Reagan, Sonny Bono, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Al Franken – the list keeps going.

Heck, even athletes like Bill Bradley, Jim Bunning, Scotty Baesler, Jack Kemp and Jesse Ventura made it.

So Curt, good luck. Just remember that if you win, you go to work more than once every five days - at least we hope so.
