Ball State Cardinals
Head Coach- Stan Parrish
2008 record- 12-2, 8-0 MAC
It was a rocky start for the best team in the MAC last season, as Ball State (0-1) fell 20-10 to North Texas. The departure of Nate Davis looks like it will cause trouble for the Cardinals, as Kelly Page went 15-for-34 for 140 yards and a pick in his debut as the BSU starter.

Western Michigan Broncos
Head Coach- Bill Cubit
2008 record- 9-4, 6-2 MAC
Western Michigan (0-1) was unable to continue the streak of success that visitors have had in season openers in Ann Arbor, losing 31-7 to Michigan. The Broncos were outclassed on offense and defense, giving up 439 yards of total offense to the Wolverines, and rushing for only 38 yards themselves.

Central Michigan Chippewas
Head Coach- Butch Jones
2008 record- 8-5, 6-2 MAC
In a game delayed 43 minutes by lightning, Central Michigan (0-1) was downed by the Arizona Wildcats, 19-6. A Wildcat defense took it to Chippewa quarterback Dan LeFevour, as he threw for only 108 yards, and rushed for 18 yards on 9 carries.

Northern Illinois
Head Coach- Jerry Kill
2008 record- 6-7, 5-3 MAC
After being outplayed for three quarters against the Wisconsin Badgers, the Huskies (0-1) played a frantic fourth quarter to make it a game. The Badgers would hold on, however, to win 28-20. NIU couldn’t capitalize on its opportunities in the first half, settling for two Mike Salerno field goals when in the redzone. NIU plays host to Western Illinois this Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at Huskie Stadium.

Eastern Michigan
Head Coach- Ron English
2008 record- 3-9, 2-6 MAC
Showing vulnerability in defending the option, Eastern Michigan (0-1) got burned for 300 rushing yards in a loss to Army, 27-14. The Eagles were hurt by three turnovers, including two interceptions by quarterback Andy Schmitt. EMU rushed for only 40 yards, and was held to 223 total yards.

Toledo
Head Coach- Tim Beckman
2008 record- (3-9, 2-6 MAC)
Defense was thrust to the wayside last week, as Toledo (0-1) fell to Purdue, 52-31. Toledo quarterback Aaron Opelt threw for 423 yards on 41-for-67 passing, but couldn’t do enough to get past the Boilermakers. The two teams combined for 1,028 total offensive yards, including 535 yards by Purdue, 315 of which were on the ground.
