NIU goes 1-2 in weekend challenge at Purdue
Demetrius Jones makes final decision

The DeKalb and Sycamore Fire Departments, in collaboration with Kishwaukee Community Hospital, will be hosting a memorial ceremony today from 5 to 5:30 p.m. in honor of those killed in the Sept. 11 attacks.
The ceremony commemorating the 8th anniversary of the attacks will take place at the Kishwaukee Community Hospital’s Healing Garden, 1 Kish Hospital Drive.
Scott Love, DeKalb assistant fire chief, said comments will be made by the DeKalb and Sycamore fire chiefs during the ceremony as well as chaplains of both fire departments.
“It will be a brief commemoration to help keep the acts of 9/11 fresh in the memories... of the communities,” Love said. “The ceremony will be fairly short but fairly moving.”
Sycamore Fire Chief Bill Riddle said it is unusual for the ceremonies to be held together, but this year it is being held at place of significance- the Healing Garden.
“This is a special place that will help us to remember the fallen firefighters of 9/11 and all the sacrifices they have made,” Riddle said.
In attendance will be firefighters of DeKalb and Sycamore along with many veterans groups in uniform and members of the community. Riddle said Congressman Bill Foster is also expected to be an attendee.
“This is a time for healing and remembering not only the fallen firefighters, but the thousands of people who lost their lives that day,” Riddle said.
