Ohio's Williamson forces opponents to plan...

Today marks the beginning of Fall Family Weekend.
The annual event takes place early in the fall semester to welcome students and their families to campus.
“We aim to get students’ families more acclimated with the university,” said Christina Bieche, graduate assistant for the Parents’ Association, which sponsors many events during the weekend. “It also gives students a chance to see their families and introduce them to the school.”
The event runs from Friday to Sunday and features a wide variety of programs and interactions. Highlights include a Friday night Huskie Den Sampler with unlimited bowling and billiards, as well as snacks and prizes available. Admission to the Den is $12 and the event runs from 9 to 11 p.m. A golf outing is planned for Saturday morning at the River Heights Golf Course.
The Parents’ Association is one of many organizations offering a tailgating party for the football game Saturday evening, and theirs will feature a meal, entertainment, including the NIU marching band, and a raffle. Tickets are available at the door.
“We are also running a series of ‘Tool Box sessions’ Saturday that features speakers telling students how to get involved on campus,” Bieche said.
Presentations will be made by the Student Involvement and Leadership Development, Housing and Dining, the Study Abroad Office, and the Commuter and Non-Traditional Student Office.
Sunday is highlighted by the DeKalb Kite Fest, which begins at 11 a.m. behind the Engineering Building.
