Sept 10
At 11:50 p.m., University Police patrolling Douglas Hall was approached by a Community Adviser who reported a smell of cannabis coming from a room. The room’s resident admitting to smoking and turned over some cannabis and drug paraphernalia. The resident was referred to Judicial Affairs.
At 11:54 p.m., University Police patrolling Grant South heard loud noises and a smell of alcohol coming from the 7th floor lounge. When officers investigated, they found seven individuals drinking alcohol. Six were referred to Judicial Affairs for underage consumption and one was referred to Judicial Affairs for supplying alcohol to minors.
Sept 11
At 1:41 a.m., University Police were notified of a possible battery after someone witnessed a man and a woman having a confrontation. After speaking with the individuals and the witness, it was determined that the two had pushed each other but there were no punches. The two were referred to Judicial Affairs.
At 2:01 a.m., University Police were dispatched to Huskie Stadium. Two people were running around on the football field. Both were referred to Judicial Affairs.
At 3:00 p.m., sexual abuse was reported to University Police. Case is pending.
At 8:40 p.m., University Police were notified of a banned student being in Neptune East. Police arrested Dinarr Whiteside, 22, of Chicago, and charged him with criminal trespass. Whiteside was booked at the NIU Police Department and released on bond.
At 11:18 p.m., University Police patrolling near Douglas Hall smelled cannabis. When the officer approached a group of people, he saw one of them throw something behind them. One of the individuals was arrested for a Failure to Appear warrant and the rest were referred to Judicial Affairs.
Sept 12
At 12:03 a.m., University Police observed a vehicle drive through a stop sign at Stadium Drive East. The driver admitted to having consumed alcohol. The driver, Evan Spralls, 19, of Chicago, was arrested and charged with disobeying a stop sign, underage consumption of alcohol, and was given a zero tolerance suspension. Spralls was booked at the NIU Police Department and was released on bond.
At 1:37 a.m., University Police patrolling the Campus Recreation Center observed someone who was unable to stand on her own. The individual vomited, slumped over, and became unresponsive. She was transported to Kishwaukee Hospital and referred to Judicial Affairs.
At 1:46 a.m., University Police patrolling the Campus Recreation Center observed an individual who appeared to be highly intoxicated. He was slurring his speech and vomited into a trash bag. Officers determined he was underage and referred him to Judicial Affairs.
At 2:48 a.m., University Police patrolling the Campus Recreation Center observed two individuals fighting on the dance floor. The two were separated and identified. Case is pending.
At 3:11 a.m., University Police patrolling Central Park observed six people smoking west of Douglas Hall. One individual had cannabis in his hand. He was referred to Judicial Affairs.
At 5:31 a.m., an identification card was thrown at an access control worker. The individual who threw the card was referred to Judicial Affairs for disorderly conduct.
At 5:27 p.m., University Police witnessed a tailgater pour a Keystone Light beverage into a different can. When questioned, police determined that he was underage and referred him to Judicial Affairs.
