Northern Television Channel to host televised fundraiser during Homecoming weekend
By LAURA MELONE

Among the many Homecoming events happening this weekend, Northern Television Channel (NTC) is hosting a fundraiser/pregame kickoff.

NTC, which is a division of the department of communications, is attempting to raise money for the station.

“We want to raise money to go on conferences and conventions, field trips to different news stations and hopefully, some guest speakers,” said NTC president Nicole Sandoval.

The fundraiser will be televised on the station, which is available in residence halls throughout campus.

“I am hosting a 90-minute live pregame show in conjunction with the fundraiser,” said Keith Bertog, the sports director of NTC.

The event will be from noon to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the NTC Television Center.

“From 1 to 2:30 p.m., there will be a live news segment,” Sandoval said.
“Students have the opportunity to interact with the newscasters during the event. We will be live, and we will have live video feed outside, as well, so people who come by have a chance to be on TV,” Bertog said.

NTC will be providing food and drinks to participants of the events.

“There will be free pizza from Toppers between noon and 2:30 p.m. We’re going to be having a bean bag contest, $5 a person, with a one in four chance of winning and chances to win free food, T-shirts and other prizes.” Sandoval said.
NTC will also have a float in the Homecoming parade, $2 raffles with 10 winners throughout the day and prizes.

“This is something we’ve never done before, so we’ll see how it goes, especially because it’s live. It should be interesting,” Bertog said.

Does anyone else think that it's said that our own TV station fundraiser is a dackdrop to the many thousands of dollars spent on Homecoming?
