DeKalb Police arrested a DeKalb man suspected in a home invasion and sexual assault on Sunday.
At 3:50 a.m. police responded to a residence in the 1300 block of Market Street for a reported prowler, a DeKalb Police Report said.
According to a Monday press release by police, the suspect, Juan U. Lopez, 24, is charged with two counts of home invasion, a Class X Felony, aggravated criminal sexual assault, a Class 2 Felony, criminal sexual assault, a Class 1 Felony and residential burglary, a Class 1 Felony.
Lopez is alleged to have entered the home while the victims were sleeping and sexually assaulted an adult female, the release said. According to the release, family members of the victim heard her screaming and detained Lopez until the police arrived. DeKalb Police Lt. Gary Spangler said the victim and Lopez are acquaintances through work, but would not say where they worked.
The victim was not injured, according to the release.
Lopez had a bond hearing on at 8:45 a.m. on Monday. He is currently being held on $500,000 bond.
