Write letters to legislators to demand health care reform

Adequate health care is not a luxury; it is a necessity.

It is unconscionable that over 46 million Americans cannot afford decent health care because of the high cost of insurance.

Even many employed Americans such as my daughter and her husband cannot afford health insurance.

Will you be able to afford insurance when you graduate?

We need a health care plan that will put pressure on the insurance industry so insurance companies cannot drop or lower coverage if a person becomes sick; cannot place a cap on the amount of coverage a person or family can receive in a year or over a lifetime; and cannot deny coverage for preexisting conditions.

President Obama has worked with doctors, politicians and various experts to put together a plan that will offer a variety of choices based on an insurance exchange and a public insurance option.

Every adult eligible to vote needs to be registered and to call or write e–mails and letters to
Senator Durbin, Senator Burris and Representative Bill Foster letting them know that we want health reform now!

Please join me in doing this today!

Sincerely,

Meryl Domina,
Assistant Professor, Department of Teaching and Learning
