Trio of running backs help pace NIU backfield

At 5:53 p.m., a victim entered the NIU Police Department to report that her iPod Touch had been stolen. After collecting information and conducting an investigation, University Police were able to identify the offender and retrieve the stolen iPod. The victim requested not to have the offender charged criminally. The offender was sent to Judicial Affairs.
At 9:53 p.m., University Police on patrol in Lincoln Hall found a group of people playing beer pong from the open door of a room and into the hallway. All alcohol was voluntarily disposed of while all four individuals were referred to Judicial Affairs for illegal possession of alcohol by a minor.
At 10:18 p.m., University Police on patrol in Lincoln Hall smelled alcohol coming from a room. After knocking and being allowed to enter, the officer learned that only one resident was drinking. After voluntarily disposing of some unopened alcohol, the resident was referred to Judicial Affairs.
At 11:21 p.m., University Police on patrol in Grant South heard loud voices coming from one of the rooms. When questioned, the occupants admitted to underage drinking and voluntarily poured out all remaining alcohol. They received a verbal warning for illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.
Oct. 9
At 12:03 a.m., University Police on patrol in Grant South saw a student open a room door revealing a bottle of rum and a cup of what smelled like alcohol in plain view. The student stated that she and the male occupant in the room were 21 years old. When identified, however, they were revealed to be under the age of 21. Both were referred to Judicial Affairs.
At 12:43 a.m., University Police responded to Lincoln Hall for a verbal altercation between floor residents. One person had alcohol emanating from his person. After investigating, officers arrested Michael T. Neumann, 18, of Carol Stream, for unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of cannabis. Officers booked Neumann at the NIU Police Department, where he posted bond and was released.
At 2:20 a.m., University Police at Stevenson North watched a driver park into the fire land and stumble as he walked to and from his car. The driver, who was underage, failed field sobriety tests. Officers arrested Mark. R. Schutte, 20, of Oswego, for zero tolerance. Officers booked Schutte at the NIU Police Department, where he posted bond and was released.
At 11:40 a.m., victim reported her wallet was taken from her unlocked car as it was parked in Lot C2 near the Convocation Center. Pending new leads, case is closed.
At 6:11 p.m., University Police responded to Douglas Hall on a harassment report. The complainant stated that a group of people “penny blocked” her door by placing coins in the doorway to prevent it from opening. Two students were referred to Judicial Affairs for disorderly conduct.
At 10:08 p.m., University Police on patrol in Lincoln Hall smelled alcohol coming from a room. After knocking and allowed to enter, the officer learned that all the people in the room were under 21. Two students were referred to Judicial Affairs, while three non-students were given warnings for unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor.
At 10:44 p.m., University Police on patrol in Lincoln Hall heard excessive noise coming from one of the rooms. As the officer approached the room, he smelled alcohol. The officer learned that all five students in the room were under the age of 21. They had unopened cans of beer in their possession. They were given verbal warnings for unlawful possession of alcohol by a minor.
Oct. 10
At 12:30 a.m., University Police on patrol in Lincoln Hall smelled cannabis coming from one of the rooms. After knocking, the three occupants of the room admitted to smoking cannabis and turned over what they had left. They were referred to Judicial Affairs.
At 3:39 a.m., University Police on patrol in Douglas Hall smelled cannabis coming from one of the rooms. After knocking, the occupant of the room admitted to smoking cannabis and turned over what they had left. He was given a verbal warning for unlawful possession of cannabis and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
At 12:25 p.m., victim reported someone took $146 from their car when it was parked at the Barsema Alumni and Visitor Center. Case is pending.
At 12:30 p.m., University Police responded to a domestic battery report in Neptune East. Officers met with the victim, who said her boyfriend choked her and punched her three times in the leg before leaving the area. She said she did not want to press charges but that she did not want him to contact her. Case is pending.
