Women's soccer bothered by injuries
By ANDREW HANSEN

Injuries plague the NIU women’s soccer team as three starters are not completely healthy.

Junior midfielder Maddie Lehman went down early in Friday’s match with an ankle injury. Senior defender Katie Sturges is nursing a sore shoulder and the Huskies are still waiting for freshman forward Annie Wyer to return from a knee injury.

“There are other little injuries within the team. The girls aren’t 100 percent healthy,” said head coach Marci Miller-Jobson. “Going into the end of the year, you want your whole entire team to be healthy.”

Shooting improvement

Heading into this week’s practice, the Huskies look to improve on their finishing. The opportunities are coming as NIU outshot Miami-Ohio 24-11 in Sunday’s loss, but they were unable to find the back of the net.

“I’m really impressed with them creating,” Miller-Jobson said. “We’re going to continue to do repetitions on finishing and goals are going to come.”

The Huskies continue to work on shooting in this shortened week of practice, Miller-Jobson said. There are still five games remaining in the regular season, three of which are on the road.

“The MAC is wide open right now,” Miller-Jobson said. “I’ve got tons of confidence in this team. I love their never-say-die attitude.”
