Campus police blotter for Oct. 19

Sept. 24
• At 10:08 a.m., a resident of Neptune West reported that someone took her NIU OneCard without her permission, and made unauthorized debits from her account. Case is pending.

Oct. 15
• At 12:24 a.m., University Police on patrol in Lot W found two individuals in a car who appeared to be smoking cannabis. The occupants admitted to doing so and when escorted to their rooms, they turned over a small amount along with two pipes. Both occupants were referred to Judicial Affairs.

• At 1:20 a.m., University Police found several individuals outside Douglas Hall who appeared to be smoking cannabis. All received a verbal warning for smoking cannabis, except for one who was referred to Judicial Affairs for the illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.

• At 9:58 p.m., University Police met with a victim who reported the theft of a cell phone from the Recreation Center. Case is pending.

Oct. 16
• At 1:19 a.m., University Police pulled a vehicle over near the 600 block of Annie Glidden Road. Officers determined that the driver was under the influence of alcohol while operating the vehicle. Officers also learned that the driver was under 21. Officers arrested Paul A. Pagliughi, 19, of Chicago, for unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor. Officers booked Pagliughi at the NIU Police Department, where he posted bond and was released.

• At 10:35 a.m., victim came into the NIU Police Department to report his wallet was stolen. He reported that he left the wallet in a computer lab, and when he returned to retrieve it, the wallet was missing. He asked individuals present if they had seen his wallet. No one recalled seeing the item. Case is pending.

• At 11:17 p.m., University Police responded to a fight in Lincoln Hall. Upon arrival, officers conducted an investigation into the cause of the disturbance. Both parties were referred to Judicial Affairs.

Oct. 17
• At 2:52 a.m., University Police on patrol in the Recreation Center encountered an irate woman. The woman said she had been in an argument with her ex-boyfriend and stated that she wanted him to return her house key which she had given him. After locating the ex-boyfriend, officers discovered that the woman struck him several times with a closed fist prior to her initial interaction with officers, leaving visible marks on his face. Officers arrested Sabrae K. Gayles, 18, of DeKalb for domestic battery. Officers booked Gayles at the NIU Police Department, where she was later transported to the DeKalb County Jail.

• At 4:42 a.m., University Police responded to Stevenson South for a battery in progress. Upon arrival, officers learned that one of the individuals had struck the other in a heated argument. Since they were in a dating relationship, officers arrested Deshawn R. Clifton, 19, of Chicago, for domestic battery. Clifton was also charged with criminal trespass to land and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. Officers booked Clifton at the NIU Police Department, where he was later transported to the DeKalb County Jail.

• At 8:36 p.m., University Police on patrol in Douglas Hall found a party being held in one of the rooms. Officers made contact with the occupant and learned they were consuming alcohol, and that all but one of the occupants were under 21. All of the occupants were referred to Judicial Affairs for unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor.

• At 9:56 p.m., University Police on patrol in Douglas Hall found a party being held in one of the rooms. Officers made contact with the occupant and learned they were consuming alcohol, and that all of the occupants were under 21. All of the occupants were referred to Judicial Affairs for unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor.

• At 10:03 p.m., University Police encountered two individuals who had the odor of cannabis coming from them. Officers stopped and talked to the individuals, one of whom admitted to smoking cannabis. He also produced a small amount of cannabis that he had. The cannabis was confiscated and the individual was referred to Judicial Affairs for possession of cannabis.
