WNBA team shocks Detroit with announcement of move to Tulsa

It’s not just the Detroit automotive companies that need a bailout these days.

The Detroit Shock told the Associated Press that it will be moving to Tulsa, Okla.

For those of you that have a limited knowledge of team names and what sports they connect to, the Shock is Detroit’s WNBA franchise. You know, the team that’s won the WNBA championship three times in the past 12 years.

And that’s why this is a major problem.

Who has ever heard of a team that won three championships in 12 years, having to move? I mean the Cubs haven’t won one in over 100 years and they’re still in Chicago.

But sadly, it seems like there’s no room in Detroit for the Shock. With four major sports teams, and Michigan and Michigan State so close to Detroit, the town is oversaturated with sporting events.

The low man on the totem poll just happens to be a team comprised of women. All we can do is wish them the best of luck in a state that has only one professional team and two major university sport programs.

Hopefully that isn’t over saturation as well.
