I am writing the following in response to October 21st’s front page article
“Grady Supporters Speak Out”
Thank You BSU
I am writing to thank the Black Student Union for clarifying for all of us what the issue over Campus Police Chief Grady is really about: Racism. I was under the impression that my problem with him stemmed from his ignoring of prior warnings about the February 14th shooting (one of which my cousin brought to his attention a week before the event, and was called a liar on national TV by Grady for her troubles), his inability to communicate with local police departments and his general incompetence. But I was wrong.
Apparently, what my real problem was is Grady’s race. I would like to thank the BSU for bringing to my attention that I am, indeed, a racist.
You see, I had always thought that I judged a person by the content of his heart rather than the color of their skin. But the Black Student Union has informed me that I was wrong. In fact, it seems that we all are, as DeKalb is one of the most racist towns in the United States. So thank you Black Student Union, for telling me how I felt and what my complaints with Grady were.
