Campus police blotter 10-27

Oct. 24
At 3:50 p.m., University Police responded to a report of domestic battery at Lincoln Hall. After speaking with three individuals, officers referred two to Judicial Affairs for obstruction of justice and one to Judicial Affairs for domestic battery.

Oct. 25
At 4:09 a.m., University Police received a report of an individual potentially smoking cannabis on the front step of Douglas Hall. After speaking with the individual, officers gave a warning for possession of cannabis.

At 5:17 a.m., University Police noticed a man standing in the middle of Lot S near Annie Glidden Rd. who appeared intoxicated. After convincing the man to walk out of the road, officers determined he was drunk and underage. Officers arrested Dionte Staples, 20, of Blue Island, and charged him with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. Staples was booked at the NIU Police Department and released on bond.

At 2:20 p.m., University Police patrolling Douglas Hall found an individual in possession of drug equipment. Officers arrested Brendan Howe, 18, of Lincolnshire, and charged him with possession of drug equipment. Howe was booked at the NIU Police Department and was released on bond.
