An emergency appeal from TAILS
By NORTHERN STAR STAFF

Hello all,

As you probably have read in the Northern Star or the Chronicle, the TAILS Animal Shelter has taken in over two hundred dogs and cats from an animal abuse case in Rochelle.

They are caring for these animals at a staging area in a hangar at the DeKalb Airport. The animals are being fed and groomed and readied for adoption or foster care, etc. They're also receiving medical care and immunizations, etc., which has put a large financial burden on the shelter.

I have worked with TAILS since its inception and I'm organizing a drive to gather together the materials that it takes to care for these animals in this emergency. I will place boxes for the collection in 109 Watson, 107 Reavis, in the hallway in front of Watson 213, and I will take things whenever I'm in my office (108 Reavis). I will see that the materials get to the hangar.

They especially need bedding--old towels, blankets and comforters and newspapers.
They also can use:
feeding bowls
paper towels
dish soap
toys for dogs and cats
rawhides
litter (not scoopable) and litter pans

They also could use donations of any size to help pay for the cost of caring for these animals.

The address is: TAILS Animal Shelter, 2250 Barbar Greene Road, DeKalb, IL 60115

THANKS VERY MUCH from the animals!
