DeKalb Police arrested a man accused of stabbing a man Tuesday night.
Roy M. Jenkins, 21, of DeKalb, is being held at the DeKalb County Jail on $200,000 bond on charges he stabbed the victim with a knife at 6:21 p.m. Tuesday at Jenkins’ apartment, 1400 W. Lincoln Highway.
Jenkins is charged with two Class 3 Felony counts of aggravated battery and a Class X Felony count of armed violence, according to a DeKalb Police Department press release Wednesday.
Lt. Gary Spangler said the victim was the father of Jenkins’ girlfriend.
Spangler said an argument between the two became physical and the victim was stabbed in the neck, torso, leg and hand after an argument. The police were told the injuries were not life-threatening, Spangler said.
The victim was taken to Kishwaukee Community Hospital, 1 Kish Hospital Drive, by ambulance shortly after police arrived, the release said.
The victim was visiting Jenkins from Chicago, according to the release. The release also said Jenkins sustained minor injuries that did not require medical attention.
The victim was able to get the knife away from Jenkins before police arrived, according to the release. Two other witnesses in the apartment called police, Spangler said.
Jenkins is set to appear in court on Nov. 12.
