DeKALB | DeKalb School District 428 is monitoring a situation that could result in a strike by First Student bus drivers, the company the district has a contract with for the school routes.

According to the district’s Web site, the dispute is between the company and its drivers.

“Please know that regardless of the status of bus service, school will be in session,” said a statement on the district’s Web site. “Until a contract agreement is reached, we would ask that parents of younger students, especially, ensure that your child is on the bus prior to leaving your child unattended at a bus stop.”

The district is in contact with other bus companies should a work stoppage take place, according to the Web site. As of press time, the last update was posted at 4:42 p.m. Thursday.
