DeKALB | Junior goalkeeper Chris Tidwell suffered an injury Thursday during practice.

Tidwell came out after the ball and collided with teammates, but the specifics of his injuries are hazy. Head coach Eric Luzzi believes he has a broken fibula and a dislocated ankle.

“It was just a strange play,” Luzzi said. “We all saw it, but nobody actually knows what happened. There was a couple players there, there was a ball and there was Chris coming out. I don’t know if he rolled it on the turf, if someone stepped on it, or if it was over the ball.”

As the Huskies’ number two goalie, he has had trouble with injuries in the past. The Shabbona native played two springs with NIU before, but has never played in the fall due to injury.

Tidwell started one match this year against Bradley in the regular season opener 2-1 loss.

He had surgery late Tuesday and will be rehabbing for the next couple of months.
