True religion sidesteps the need for political correctness

I completely disagree with the position in your October 26th editorial, “Part Two: Political Correctness Is Due Considering History,” that God or spirituality doesn’t belong in the classroom or state, because it completely ignores Enlightened Awareness.

J. Krishnamurti said, “Religion comes when the mind has understood the working of itself.”

When the mind has understood itself, we see, in the words of Shakespeare, that “If you prick us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die?”

In other words, we see and experience oneness not just with our human brothers and sisters, but all our animal ones too, and also the environment.

Environmental consciousness is spiritual consciousness.

Humility, integrity and selflessness is religion.

Anything that proclaims itself a religion and is exclusive is the opposite of religion.

Because of our blind exploitations of the poor, because of our technological achievements for mass destruction--including what we have done and are doing to the environment--we need Enlightened Awareness more than ever.

In the words of Meher Baba: “Selfishness, multiplied by population, results in wars, exploitation, persecution and poverty. Selflessness, multiplied by population, brings about peace and plenty.”

And “To face the truth is to realize that life is one, in and through its manifold manifestations.”

“To have this understanding is to forget the limiting self in the realization of the unity of life...
With the dawn of true understanding, the problem of wars would immediately disappear.”

“Wars have to be so clearly seen as both unnecessary and unreasonable that the immediate problem would not be how to stop wars, but to wage them spiritually against the attitude of mind responsible for such a cruel and painful state of things.

“In the light of the truth of the unity of all life, cooperative and harmonious action becomes natural and inevitable.”

“Hence, the chief task before those who are deeply concerned with the rebuilding of humanity is to do their utmost to dispel the spiritual ignorance that envelopes humanity.”~Meher Baba

A new book from our publishing house touches on the themes you raise Arthur. The book is Living Nonduality by Robert Wolfe. The world thinks of religion as belief instead of as self-understanding, hence the violence of 'religions'...Full ebook is available for free at karinalibrary.com.
