The Rant: 4-ward to failure

Poetic justice is so cruel.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy was sporting his usual “Hello, my name is Mr. Burns, I believe you have a letter for me” look all night long in the Packers’ loss to Brett Favre and the Vikings Sunday.

What else would you expect?

Whether the Packers made the right call moving away from Favre last year – and I still say they did – it doesn’t change the fact that he ripped McCarthy’s team apart twice this year and may continue to for the next couple years.

As usual, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers played as well as he could behind a transparent line, a nonexistent running game and a moronic offensive game plan an eighth grader – or the Rams – could pick apart.

Unfortunately for No. 12, No. 4 was always one step ahead, and that may very well be the story of Rodgers’ career, as great as it may turn out to be.

The old man got his revenge. Time will tell if McCarthy and Packers General Manager Ted Thompson pay the price.
