NIU faces off with Eastern Michigan in Thursday...
Student named Playboy's 'Coed of the Month'

West Division
Central Michigan (5-0, 7-2)
Head coach: Butch Jones
Next game: 7 p.m. Nov. 11 vs. at Toledo
So much for cracking the Top 25. Central Michigan had a chance to represent the MAC among the best in the nation with a win on the road at Boston College, but it wasn’t meant to be. The 31-10 loss doesn’t affect its standing in the MAC West though. CMU quarterback Dan LeFevour wasn’t as sharp as he has been this year throwing for 152 yards and one interception which played a big part in Boston College snapping CMU’s seven-game winning streak.
Northern Illinois (5-3, 3-1)
Head coach: Jerry Kill
Next game: 6:30 p.m. Nov. 5 vs. Eastern Michigan
The Huskies improved to 2-0 with DeMarcus Grady starting at quarterback and Chad Spann ran for 125 yards and two touchdowns as NIU claimed second place in the MAC West. Grady ran for 109 yards himself and NIU is now 11-0 under Kill when rushing for over 200 yards. Grady threw for 62 yards with no turnovers as the Huskies continue to show that running the ball will be their staple for the rest of the year.
Western Michigan (4-5, 3-3)
Head coach: Bill Cubit
Next game: 11 a.m. Nov. 7 at Michigan State
WMU now stands in third place in the MAC West after a 26-14 road loss to Kent State. The Broncos forced three turnovers but couldn’t overcome 477 yards of total offense from Kent State. Broncos quarterback Tim Hiller threw for 255 yards and two touchdowns with one interception.
Toledo (4-5, 2-3)
Head coach: Tim Beckman
Next game: 7 p.m. Nov. 11 at Central Michigan
Toledo used three quarterbacks but only combined for 228 yards and a touchdown through the air as Toledo became the first team to lose to Miami this season. Stephen Williams caught nine passes for 137 yards.
Ball State (1-8, 1-4)
Head coach: Stan Parrish
Next game: Bye week
Ball State lead 17-12 with 5:52 remaining but ended up losing 20-17 and leads only Eastern Michigan in the MAC West. Ball State quarterback Tanner Justice’s 35-yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Hill gave Ball State the 17-12 lead, which accounted for nearly half of the Cardinals’ 78 yards of passing in the game.
Eastern Michigan (0-8,0-4)
Head Coach: Ron English
Next game: 6:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at NIU
The Eagles didn’t get a first down in the first half and the scoreboard supported that stat as Arkansas led 42-0 at the half. Arkansas would win 63-27 as Eastern Michigan continued its win-less season.
