Huskies basketball approaching

In the eternal words of Johnny Winter and Dick Vitale, “Can’t you feel it, baby?”

Next Monday marks the beginning of the college basketball season, and it is long overdue.

No one from the Chicagoland area is happy with the ways the NFL season is going, and there’s no better way to cure your ills than with some good, old-fashioned roundball.

From the squeaking of sneakers on wooden floors to the feel of the camera shaking from the jumping of the student section, no sport on this planet can match the spectacle, excitement and tradition that NCAA basketball has.

The World Cup is great, but all those fans can’t pack into a gym that is tiny by comparison.

So I think I speak for the other 10 percent of sports fans who pay attention to NCAA basketball before March when I say it’s a good thing to watch all year.

It’s certainly better than watching the Bears or the Packers.
