“Yell Like Hell” was held on Wednesday, Oct. 10. The event is a pep rally held every year before Homecoming weekend. Sororities team up with fraternities and create cheerleading routines to show their support for NIU.

They are judged on numerous aspects, including creativeness and loudness. This year, the first place award went to the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority and the Sigma Nu fraternity.

Delta Zeta wins Tugs, money raised for charity
On Friday, Oct. 5, and Saturday, Oct. 6, the fraternity men of Pi Kappa Alpha (Pikes) held Women’s Tugs 2007. The sororities competing were Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Alpha Phi, Delta Gamma, Delta Zeta, Sigma Kappa, Sigma Lambda Sigma and Sigma Sigma Sigma.

The teams were coached by members of Pi Kappa Alpha four weeks before the actual event. The championship tug lasted over 45 minutes, but was eventually won by Delta Zeta. The ASAs took second place, and the Sigmas took third.

The event raised more than $2,000 for the Breast Treatment Task Force, a group that pays for breast cancer treatment for women who cannot afford it.
