President Peters deserves break
By ALAN EDRINN
I write this in response to an absurd letter to the editor from Friday. A certain biology major decided to voice an opinion that is not shared by this particular student and pretty sure the rest of the university. Unfortunately, this biology major felt qualified to voice how to properly spend money and eventually rambled to the fate of our president.
When President [John] Peters accepted the job, there was no manual on how to handle a situation like the one experienced on Feb. 14. I want to applaud his handling of this tragedy. He has handled the student body and faculty with the utmost respect while internalizing his own pain. He has stayed strong for this university and we should all thank him for doing so.
Shame on you, junior biology major, for calling for the dismissal of our president and leader. He does have “common sense,” but apparently you do not. NIU lost a building of learning and you recommended adding more buses and salt because you don’t feel like walking. Maybe next time you decide to voice an opinion you should take into account what is important for the university and not yourself, because the walk is just 15 minutes!
