By ALAN EDRINN
DeKalb police responded to 302 E. Lincoln Highway for an armed robbery Friday morning.

A clerk from 153 Currency Exchange told police a male entered his store with a knife about 10:21 a.m. The suspect then bound the clerk and left the store with a cashbox.

The suspect used duct tape to restrain the clerk and left the knife at the business before leaving, said Lt. Jim Spangler of the DeKalb Police Department.
The clerk was able free himself from the restraints and ran after the suspect, confronting him a short distance from the store. The suspect then dropped the cash box and ran away.

The suspect, identified as Anastacio Garcia, 31, of DeKalb, was found a short time later in the 200 block of Prospect Street. Garcia was arrested and is charged with armed robbery, aggravated unlawful restraint and aggravated battery. Garcia was taken to the DeKalb County jail pending bond.

The clerk sustained minor injuries and did not require medical attention.
