This person will select, edit and design page content, coordinate edition content with editors and meet page-flow deadlines, develop computer-originated graphics to enhance readership comprehension, and participate in planning and coordination for assigned pages and special sections. This intern will work an average of 40 hours per week. The hours are typically 4 p.m. – midnight and may include weekend and holiday hours. newsrooms of its West Division (The Beacon-News, The Herald-News, The
Naperville-Sun and The Courier-News).
There are currently openings for a full-time reporter, as well as a
full-time temporary reporter and full-time temporary Web editor.
We are looking for a writer who is inquisitive, passionate, knows how to
multi-task and set priorities. Reporter duties will include covering a
beat with an emphasis on investigative reporting and comprehensive
storytelling using multi-media platforms.
The Web editor candidate should know how to write and edit a story and
write a headline. In addition:
* Must possess instinct to distinguish the difference between how
stories should play in print versus online.

Multimedia Content Manager. Posted 9-22-09. The Times is looking for an individual to assist us with ever-changing
technology to reinvent how local information services are delivered.
The primary mission is to increase our online and multi-media audience
with content that is compelling, relevant, useful, accurate and timely.
Our focus will be on breaking and developing news quickly followed by
what happens next — what is coming that will affect our audience.
Special attention should be given to providing public access and
interaction. Local content is priority but formats should be developed
for links to special interest content.
The ideal candidate has basic journalism skills, some supervisory
experience, and understands the importance of creating a new delivery

Assistant Director of Annual Fund
within the Division of University Advancement
Purpose of Position
The assistant director of Annual Fund supports the overall mission of the division of University Advancement by developing, implementing, and evaluating a strategic plan to substantially increase annual giving to Illinois State University.
Organizational Relationships
The assistant director reports directly to the executive director of Internal Campaigns who reports to the Vice President of University Advancement and Executive Director of the Illinois State University Foundation. Other positions that report to the executive director include another assistant director of annual fund. This assistant director will have access to University Advancement support staff to use in completing the duties of the position.
Duties and Responsibilities
A. Essential duties
50% 1. Provides overall leadership and coordination for research, development, implementation, and evaluation of strategies and tactics to expand the alumni annual giving outreach beyond the current Telefund Center operation by utilizing new and emerging technologies to complement and supplement current annual donor acquisition and retention activities. Creates appropriate partnerships with campus departments/units, specifically fund raising staff within UA as well as across campus, Alumni Relations, Athletics, Student Affairs, Stewardship, and Donor and Information Services to effectively develop target-specific annual fund strategies.
30% 2. Manages the faculty/staff/retiree annual fund initiative including developing new strategies to increase participation.
10% 3. Cross trains with assistant director annual fund who serves as manager of the Telefund Center to provide back-up support for essential duties and to develop a single alumni annual fund annual plan and strategies.
B. Marginal duties
10% 1. Completes other special projects and duties as assigned by the executive director of Internal Campaigns.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required
A bachelor’s degree.
Ability to work independently, including self-motivation and self-starting, time management and organizational skills, and ability to simultaneously managing multiple tasks.
Excellent communication skills including writing, public speaking, and small group interaction.
Excellent strategic and analytical thinking abilities.
Advanced computer and technology skills, including Microsoft Office, Internet, electronic calendaring, and new/emerging technologies.
Valid driver’s license and use of a personal vehicle.
Willingness to work evenings and weekends including ability to travel both in and out of state.
Ability to lift boxes and other heavy event supplies.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Preferred
Knowledge of social networking and online giving.
One to five years employment in an annual fund, fund raising, sales or a not-for-profit organization.
